MedChron uses AI to build a chronology of your client's medical treatment from the records in a project. In the Chronology tab of your MedChron, you can review every event, correct anything that isn't right, and regenerate so your corrections carry through to the case overview and patient profile. When the MedChron is ready, export it as a PDF and save it straight to the project.
Editing a MedChron
- Review: browse and filter the AI-built chronology
- Edit: add notes and correct dates, providers, and facilities
- Regenerate: apply your edits across the whole MedChron
- Hide Events: optionally, hide events that are irrelevant or duplicative to keep your chronology clean
- Export: build a PDF and save it to the project
Review the Chronology
A MedChron includes five tabs, each with a different focus and organization: case overview, patient profile, chronology, summary, and bills.
In the Chronology tab, the MedChron event information can be reviewed and edited by you. You can then regenerate the entire MedChron to rebuild the case narrative based on the new or corrected information.
Open MedChron in a project and select the Chronology tab. Each event shows the date of service, providers, facility, a title and a short description. Read more about the Chronology tab.
Edit Events
Tip
Make all your edits, then regenerate once. Editing is paused during regeneration, while the AI rebuilds the MedChron. Regeneration can take a couple of hours.
Edit
As you review the chronology, use editing to fix anything the AI got wrong, such as a misread date or a missing provider.
Click the ellipsis menu on an event and select Edit.
The Edit event panel opens on the right, with the full event details below the fields. Edit any of the displayed fields.
- Date: type a new date of service or pick one from the calendar.
- Provider: select or deselect providers, add a new one, or remove one that's wrong. An event can have more than one provider.
- Facility: select the correct facility, or add a new one.
- Note: type a note for your own reference.
Notes are for your reference only. MedChron does not use notes as context when it regenerates.
Click Save. (Or, to discard your changes, click Cancel.)
Note
Edits apply to one event at a time. For example, adjusting a date on one event doesn't change other records from the same facility.
Your edits are now saved, but not yet applied to the MedChron as a whole. After you save, a banner reads "You have unapplied edits. Regenerate when you're finished making changes."
The easiest way to edit is to make all of your edits first, then regenerate once.
Regenerate
A correction can change the case narrative, such as the case overview or treatment gaps.
Regenerating applies your corrections across the whole MedChron, so every section stays consistent.
When you've finished editing, you can regenerate. MedChron builds a new version of the chronology using your corrections as context, and updates the case overview, the patient profile, and details like treatment gaps to match. One date fix in the Chronology tab updates every other tab that uses it.
Cick Regenerate in the banner at the top of MedChron.
A banner shows that MedChron is regenerating. Regeneration may take a couple of hours.
Note
Editing is paused while MedChron regenerates. If you try to edit an event during regeneration, you'll see a message asking you to wait until it's complete.
If enabled in your settings, you will be notified via email when the regeneration is complete. When regeneration finishes, check that your edits are still in place and that the case overview and patient profile reflect them.
Hide Events
Hide events to declutter your MedChron. For example, you could opt to hide a duplicate visit or a record that isn't related to the case. Hidden events aren't deleted, but they are filtered out of the Chronology view by default, and they are left out of the PDF export.
To hide an event, click the ellipsis menu on an event and select Hide.
You can view hidden events in the Chronology tab by selecting Show hidden events in the filter panel.
To unhide an event, select Show hidden events to view it, and then click the event’s ellipsis menu and select Unhide.
Export
After regeneration finishes, you can export the MedChron as a document that reflects your corrections across every section.
Export the MedChron as a PDF to share it or attach it to the Filevine project. You choose what's included, and the file saves directly to the project in Filevine. Learn more.
