When a Med Chron is initiated, Med Chron’s AI automatically runs to detect missing records— records with overlapping dates or bills with no corresponding record—and treatment gaps of more than 30 days. These gaps in the medical chronology are identified by the AI, with sources and additional reasoning and details, giving legal teams a faster, more reliable way to identify gaps and verify those findings.
Missing Records
When a Med Chron is initiated in a project, Med Chron uses AI to automatically detect and classify missing records. The AI compares extracted medical bills against the chronology to identify dates of service where bills exist but corresponding treatment records are absent.
When missing records are found, a missing records tag appears along the top of the Med Chron.
Click the missing records tag to open a review modal, where you can view, download, and resolve the missing records.
Review Missing Records
In the review modal, view a table of the identified missing records. There are three types of missing records:
- No records with DOS: No medical record was found for the service(s) billed by the facility on the date of service
- Partial records: The bill from facilities includes some service(s) with no supporting medical record
- No related record: Medical records with overlapping dates were found, but none are clinically related to this bill from facility
Select a line item in the table to view additional details: the AI’s reasoning, source citations, and the opened related document.
Click Mark as requested or Dismiss on a line item. Dismissed records are no longer included in the missing records count that appears at the top of the Med Chron. Records that are marked as requested or dismissed will still appear in this table, but they will be marked as requested or dismissed.
Treatment Gaps
MedChron’s AI automatically analyzes every case to flag treatment gaps—events more than 30 days apart—so your legal team can quickly spot breaks in care that may be critical to a case. As new documents are added, the AI continuously re-analyzes the record and updates these results to reflect the most recent version of your case, giving your team an always-current view..
When a treatment gap is found, a treatment gaps tag appears along the top of the Med Chron.
Click the treatment gaps tag to open a review modal, where you can view the date range and details of each identified gap. Hover on the gap details to view the full description. Click the X icon to dismiss the gap.
