New Users
If you are signing in to Depositions by Filevine for the first time, follow the steps below that apply to you.
New Sign-Up: I’m the first user from my organization to sign in.
To initially access Depositions by Filevine, you are required to:
- Access the email on file. You must have access to the email address on file for your firm. If you are unsure which email we have on file, reach out to your Filevine representative to confirm.
- Reset your password. The current process requires you to set a temporary password for the initial login, and then set a permanent password to use going forward. The steps below provide a walkthrough of this process.
Navigate to https://app.deposbyfilevine.com/, and then follow these steps:
- Enter your email and click Sign In. In the Email Address field, type in the email address on file. Click Sign In.
-
Click “Forgot password?” On the next screen, click the Forgot password? link underneath the Sign In button.
- Send a verification code to your email. On the Forgot Password page, confirm the email address is correct, and click Send Code. You’ll receive an email from reminders@filevine.com with the subject line: “Your Filevine verification code.” Open the email and copy the code.
- Enter the code and create a temporary password. On the Change Password page, paste your verification code and then enter and confirm a temporary, one-time password. Click Change Password.
Tip
You will only be able to use this password for the initial login, so if you already have a password you’d like to use, enter a different one here. There are several password generators available online for free. Just make sure to hang on to the generated password until you’re prompted to reset again.
- Use your temporary password to sign in. You’ll be taken back to the login screen. Enter your email and the temporary password you chose, and then click Sign In.
- Set your permanent password. You’ll be prompted to change your password one last time. Enter and confirm the permanent password you’d like to use going forward. Click Change Password.
Once these steps are complete, you’ll be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication, which is required for all users. After that, you’re all set. You’ll be taken to the Cases section of Depositions by Filevine.
To add additional users to your Depositions account, navigate to the Users section of the Account Manager tool.
Existing Customer: I’ve been invited by another user at my organization.
You will receive an email from reminders@filevine.com with the subject line: “Welcome to Filevine.” The email contains a temporary password you’ll use to sign in.
Note
If you’re having trouble finding the email, check your spam or quarantine, and make sure your organization has marked reminders@filevine.com as a trusted sender. To resend the invite, your Account Admin can follow the steps to set a temporary password.
Click Sign in to Filevine, and then enter your email address and temporary password on the login page. You’ll be prompted to change your password. Enter and confirm the password you’d like to use going forward, and then click Change Password.
You’ll then be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication, which is required for all users.
Once set up, you may see the following error message. To bypass it, simply navigate to https://app.deposbyfilevine.com/. You’ll be taken to the Cases section of Depositions by Filevine.
