This article discusses how to sign in to Depositions by Filevine. The steps to sign in are dependent on whether or not your firm also has Filevine.
Firms with Filevine
Once an Account Admin has granted access, you can navigate to Depositions by Filevine using one of the following methods:
-
Profile menu: in Filevine, click on your profile picture in the top right corner, and then select Depositions from the dropdown. Depositions by Filevine will open in a new browser tab.
-
Direct login: go to https://app.deposbyfilevine.com/ and log in with your Filevine email and password.
Firms without Filevine
Read through the sections below to learn how to sign in as an existing user, sign in as a newly-invited user, or invite other users to your Depositions by Filevine organization.
Returning Users
To access Depositions by Filevine, navigate to https://app.deposbyfilevine.com/ and log in with your email and password. If you don’t know which email to use, reach out to your Account Admin. If you forgot your password, follow the steps to reset it.
Note
Do not use the Sign in with Parrot option unless specifically instructed to do so by a Filevine representative.
New Users
You will receive an email from reminders@filevine.com with the subject line: “Welcome to Filevine.” The email contains a temporary password you’ll use to sign in.
Note
If you’re having trouble finding the email, check your spam or quarantine, and make sure your organization has marked reminders@filevine.com as a trusted sender. To resend the invite, your Account Admin can follow the steps to set a temporary password.
Click Sign in to Filevine, and then enter your email address and temporary password on the login page. You’ll be prompted to change your password. Enter and confirm the password you’d like to use going forward, and then click Change Password.
You’ll then be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication, which is required for all users.
Once set up, you may see the following error message. To bypass it, simply navigate to https://app.deposbyfilevine.com/. You’ll be taken to the Cases section of Depositions by Filevine.
I didn’t get an email.
If you cannot find an email containing your invite or verification code, the email might be in your spam folder, or your email may be blocked. If you don’t see the email, run through the steps below.
- Check your spam folder. The email may have been listed as spam or held in quarantine.
- Add Filevine’s email to the allowlist. Make sure your organization has marked reminders@filevine.com as a trusted sender.
- Ask your Account Admin to send a temporary password. Account Admin users can try sending you a temporary password from the Account Manager tool. For invited users, this action is similar to “resending” the invite email.
- Check if your email address is blocked. Is your email address new? If the email address did not exist at the time an email from Filevine was sent, the email will be blocked. If this is the case, reach out to Filevine support.
If you are the first user from your organization to sign in, the current fix requires you to set a temporary password for the initial sign-in, and then set a permanent password to use going forward. The steps below provide a walkthrough of this process.
Navigate to https://app.deposbyfilevine.com/, and then follow these steps:
- Enter your email and click Sign In. In the Email Address field, type in the email address that has been provisioned or invited. Click Sign In.
-
Click “Forgot password?” On the next screen, click the Forgot password? link underneath the Sign In button.
- Send a verification code to your email. On the Forgot Password page, confirm the email address is correct, and click Send Code. You’ll receive an email from reminders@filevine.com with the subject line: “Your Filevine verification code.” Open the email and copy the code.
- Enter the code and create a temporary password. On the Change Password page, paste your verification code and then enter and confirm a temporary, one-time password. Click Change Password.
Tip
You will only be able to use this password for the initial login, so if you already have a password you’d like to use, enter a different one here. There are several password generators available online for free. Just make sure to hang on to the generated password until you’re prompted to reset again.
- Use your temporary password to sign in. You’ll be taken back to the login screen. Enter your email and the temporary password you chose, and then click Sign In.
- Set your permanent password. You’ll be prompted to change your password one last time. Enter and confirm the permanent password you’d like to use going forward. Click Change Password.
Once these steps are complete, you’ll be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication, which is required for all users. After that, you’re all set. You’ll be taken to the Cases section of Depositions by Filevine.
