Learn about Filevine’s built-in sections and how to use each one. Filevine project sections are listed along the lefthand side when in a project.
A Filevine project template can include both custom sections and built-in sections. Custom Sections collect data points in custom fields. Built-in sections provide additional utility. If you’re interested in building a custom section, read the Static and Collections Sections article. Filevine’s built-in sections include everything from your calendar to creating deadline chains. For steps on adding sections, read the Customs Editor.
Section Type |
What it Does |
---|---|
The Activity section, or Activity feed, stores all notes, emails, project faxes, reminders, tasks, and texts associated with the project. |
The Team section is where all followers, collaborators, and guests for a project are listed. Here, a Project Admin can grant and remove project permissions. |
The Docs section houses all documents in a central location, where you can organize and view document details. |
The Deadlines section contains ad-hoc project deadlines, which can be used to keep track of legal dates and will appear on project calendars. Use this section for non-standard deadlines, and use Chain (Deadline Chains) and Deadline (with reminder) fields for all standard deadlines. |
The Contacts section collects all contact cards across the project. Users can also add and create new contacts. |
The Billing section is where you can manage billing at the project level. It includes summary information, billing entries, and project-level billing settings. Note: this section requires that Billing is enabled for your Org. |
Incident |
The Incident section is a legacy section. Please consult your Filevine representative before utilizing this section. |
The built-in Related section houses all of a project’s linked and related projects together in one place. |
The Calendar section will display deadlines and events associated with that project. |
The Yield section allows users to generate disbursal sheets. Multiple settlement scenarios can be created and saved. |
The Chain section contains a project’s Deadline Chains. |
In the ConflictCheck section, Filevine users can search to see if any Filevine Contacts have had associates with any previous projects. |
Custom sections contain user-generated fields and widgets for data entry. |
