What Can I Ask?
Ask LOIS is made to be versatile, flexible to your needs. Ask any questions regarding your projects—you can make further requests to better refine the results.
View a detailed list of example requests organized by practice area.
Example Requests
Ask LOIS can serve as a way to quickly review a summary of the case or any piece of the case. It can also retrieve up-to-date data, or provide analysis.
Use Ask LOIS to summarize the case as a whole or pieces of the case:
- What's the latest on this case?
- How can I move this case forward?
- What types of documents have we received?
- Summarize the key points of the settlement offer.
Ask LOIS for an analysis, including anticipating issues and identifying contradictions:
- Are there any red flags on this case?
- What were the key points in the mediation?
- Any contradicting dates regarding client’s treatment?
Ask about specific pieces of data. Ask LOIS will review all of the information available to determine the most up-to-date information.
- When was the last doctor’s appt my client had?
- What type of insurance does my defendant have?
- Have there been any settlements?
Follow Up
Within a thread, Ask LOIS remembers the context of your conversation, meaning you can ask additional follow-up questions and create a conversation.
If you want to learn more about a certain result, for example, you can ask LOIS to provide more detail. If you want to contradict one of the points in the result, ask LOIS to clarify the evidence for its point.
Scope and Permission Limitations
Ask LOIS utilizes project information from all custom sections, documents, and Activity feed items. It can answer questions regarding most built-in sections, including project deadlines, contacts, and billing information. except for deadline chains.
LOIS is limited to a single project at a time. It cannot answer requests requiring information across multiple projects, like “give me a list of the most important tasks I have.” Its answers are also dependent on where you are in Filevine. If you are in Project A, LOIS is only able to provide answers using the information in that project. To make requests across project, use LOIS Console.
LOIS respects Filevine permissions. It will not include information from protected folders and protected sections for users without access. Users must be a collaborator or Admin on a project to make requests about the project.
Example
For example, if you asked LOIS to summarize a case, and the response includes a bullet regarding the client’s injury, the reference link would open the med chron section, where you can see the referenced information. If the AI references intake information, the reference might direct you to that field in the intake section. If it references pictures of the accident, the reference link might direct you to an email item in the activity feed with the images attached.
