This article discusses how to sign up for a free trial of the LOIS Console, and introduces the specialized features to explore during your trial period.

Sign Up
To learn more and sign up for the LOIS Console free trial, navigate to https://info.filevine.com/free-trial.
Fill out the form using a business email address. After you sign up, our team will begin setting up your trial account. When your account is ready, you will receive the following two emails. Add these senders to your organization’s allowlist to prevent issues with delivery:

I haven’t received the welcome email(s) from Filevine.
If you cannot find an email containing either your temporary password or your trial resources, our team may still be setting up your trial account. Depending on whether you signed up during regular business hours, it can take up to one business day for your account to become available.
While you wait, run through the steps below to ensure the emails are deliverable to your inbox.
- Add Filevine’s emails to the allowlist. Make sure your organization has marked reminders@filevine.com and freetrial@filevine.com as trusted senders.
- Check your spam folder. The email may have been listed as spam or held in quarantine.
- Make sure your email is not associated with an existing Filevine Org. Existing Filevine customers are not eligible for this trial. If your email address is associated with an existing Filevine organization, you will not receive the emails above.
If at least one business day has passed and you still have not received one or both emails, reach out to Filevine support.
Trial Features
The LOIS Console gives you a place to brainstorm, research, and craft documents. What you do with LOIS is ultimately up to you, but make sure to try out the following specialties:

LOIS supports multiple conversations at once. While you wait for LOIS to process and respond to a prompt, you can start up another chat in the meantime.
Note
Filevine case management features—like task assignment, deadline scheduling, and operational analytics—require a separate subscription and are not included in the LOIS free trial.
Analyze Documents
You can upload up to 50 documents for analysis within a single chat. Each document can be as large as 5 GB. Across multiple chats, there is no upper limit on the total number of documents you can upload and chat with. LOIS can read and analyze any file types supported for OCR or document indexing.
To upload documents while chatting with LOIS, click the plus button in the input area, and then click Upload from device.
Once each document has been processed, it will display a Ready for Chat status indicator. You can then ask LOIS any question about the attached documents.
LOIS’ response will include numbered inline citations, along with a list of all cited sources at the end of the response. Click on a citation to view the highlighted reference alongside your conversation.
Draft Documents
Create new drafts directly within a chat using the document editor. Click on the item in the response to view the drafted document. You can view, edit, and format the content directly in the editor—or continue chatting with LOIS to make the desired changes.
To save or download the document, click the vertical ellipsis menu and choose from the following options:
- copy to clipboard
- print/save as PDF
- download as .docx
Legal Research
Research case law by specifying the desired jurisdiction, date range, and other relevant criteria. LOIS draws from the industry’s leading collection of case law to return a count of matching opinions. Each of these opinions can be viewed at length in an Opinion Viewer side panel.
You can even take it one step further and determine whether a court opinion's holding is still good law. LOIS handles the analysis by researching how later courts have treated the holding.
In the Opinion Viewer, highlight any text of an opinion and click Citate with LOIS to begin an analysis. Analysis typically takes about 20 minutes. However, it can sometimes require up to 1-2 hours, depending on the size and complexity of the citation.
While the analysis runs, you can navigate away or make another request to LOIS in a separate chat thread. When the analysis is ready, click View Generated Artifacts in the sidebar to open it.
The text you selected from the opinion is shown at the top of the analysis. Below, you can view a list of cases that LOIS has identified as relevant, including the level of relevance, the case name and information, and LOIS’ treatment.
