Tasks is a page in Filevine that displays tasks from all projects you have access to. You can mark tasks complete, reassign them, or alter their due dates from the task page. Think of the task page as your personal to-do list in Filevine—although you can filter to see others’ assigned tasks as well.
To view the task page, go to the main menu in Filevine and select Tasks.
Note
In Filevine, a task is a type of item in the project’s Activity Feed. Tasks contain editable due dates and can be marked as complete.
Manage Tasks
When a task is assigned to you, you can manage the task item, replies, and completion status the same way you would in a project’s Activity Feed. You can add replies and complete or reassign tasks without entering the project.
If you would like to go to a project from your task page, click the project’s name on the task item.
Card, Condensed, and List View
The task page has three different views: card view, condensed view, and list view. You can switch between these views at any time. These viewing options are also available for the Activity Feed and user feed, and whatever setting you choose for one page will be applied to the other two pages as well.
To switch between views, use the buttons in the top right corner.
On the task page, list view includes the option to mark tasks as complete without opening them—similar to checking off items on a to-do list.
Learn more about the differences between each view.
Quick Filters
When you open the task page, the following filters are automatically applied:
- incomplete
- assigned to you
- overdue or due today
Use the lefthand side menu to quickly filter by alternative preset due date ranges, like Due Today, Next 7 Days, or Next 30 Days. To view all tasks regardless of due date, click All Due Dates.
To quickly filter by a different assignee, expand the “Assigned to” dropdown in the menu along the top, then search for and select the desired assignee. To sort by due date in ascending or descending order, click Due Date.
Additional Filters
For more filtering options, click the Filter button above the task list. Tasks can be filtered by:
- project
- assigned to
- assigned by
- created by
- completed by
- incomplete or complete
- due date
- created date
- tags
Filters can be stacked. Filtering by multiple tags returns tasks with all the filtered tags, rather than tasks with any of the filtered tags.
To remove a single filter, click the x in that filter tag. To remove all filters, click Clear Filters. Filters are reset to the default when you refresh or navigate away from the task page.
Marking Tasks Complete
Select a task to open its flyout where you can change the assignee and due date, add replies, and mark the task as complete. Learn more about creating and updating tasks.
