In Vinesign you can create a library of custom fields, where the field options and name are pre-set. These saved custom fields can be used for any other templates and documents, allowing you to add specific fields without manually selecting the options every time.
Saved custom fields can be created and added on the Design page when you are creating or editing a template. Once a custom field has been created, it is available for use in the Custom tab next to Standard.
How to Save a Custom Field
Text fields, check box fields, and link fields can be made into saved custom fields.
In the Design page when creating or editing your Vinesign template, click on the type of field you’d like to create as a saved custom field. In the Text Properties flyout on the right, set the options you’d like the saved custom field to have.
For a text field, for example, you could set up the merge code, mark it as required, and change the typeface and color. For check box fields, you could set up the merge code and mark it checked by default. For link fields, you could enter the URL, customize the display text, and change the typeface and color.
Note: For link fields, the merge code or the URL must be defined to be saved as a custom field.
Once you have selected the options you’d like for the saved custom field, click Save as Custom Field at the bottom of the Text Properties flyout.
How to Add a Saved Custom Field
Once a custom field is saved, it appears in the Custom tab. To add it to the template, click Custom and click on the saved custom field you want to add.
Saved custom fields used for this template are listed (along with other custom fields) in the Document Fields list at the bottom of the Standard tab.
Managing Saved Custom Fields
Saved custom fields can be edited or deleted. On the Design screen, click the Custom tab to view all saved custom fields. Hover and click on the gear icon next to the field you want to edit or remove.
In the Edit Custom Field modal, you can adjust any options for the saved field, or click Delete on the bottom left to delete the field.
Note: Editing or deleting a saved custom field will not retroactively apply those changes. The changes to the saved custom field will only apply to templates it’s added to going forward.
