Org Admin users have the ability to export and import saved reports from one Org to another.
If you have a report template in one Org that you would like in another Org, you can import the report template and run the report without having to set up the report columns and criteria manually. When the report template is imported, Filevine runs a new report in the destination Org and saves it in the list of saved reports.
Note: The report template import will only be fully successful if the two Orgs share all the custom fields referenced in the report.
How to Import
To move a report template from one Org to another, you must export the report from the source Org by downloading it as a file, and then import the file to the desired destination Org.
Report templates can be exported and imported from the Report Builder. To navigate to the Report Builder, click the Main Menu and select My Reports > Build Reports.
Export
Your saved reports are listed on the left hand side of the Select Report page of the Report Builder. If you have access to import report templates, you will see a download icon to the left of each report name.
Find the report you’d like to import, and click the export icon. The template will be exported as a Filevine file type (.fvsr). The file can now be imported into the destination Org.
Import
Your saved reports are listed on the left hand side of the Select Report page of the Report Builder. If you have access to import report templates, you will see an Import option next to the My Reports heading.
Click Import to open the Import a Saved Report flyout.
In the flyout, select the Org where you’d like to import the report template. Click Select a File and select the .fvsr file you downloaded. Upload the file and click Import.
You will be notified if the import was successful. If the template import has errors, a warning will indicate the import was not successful. For example, an import may have errors if the report template references a custom section that the destination Org does not have. To mitigate the risk of errors, import the project template to the destination Org before importing the report template.
If the report template is successfully imported, a new saved report will be created in the list of My Reports with the name of the report template.
Best Practices
If a report template references any custom fields that do not exist in the destination Org, then those fields will not be included in the report.
If the destination Org does not have any of the referenced custom fields, the report template import will fail. To avoid errors, import the project template first before importing the report template.
