The Doc Utility App is part of Filevine’s Docs+ Features.
Users with the Doc Utility app installed can use the native programs on their devices to edit documents stored in Filevine. Users can edit virtually any file type, provided they have compatible editing software on their device. This includes PDFs, images, and more. Changes automatically sync back to Filevine when the document is saved.
Launch Doc Utility
In the properties menu of the desired file, click the Edit With Doc Util icon.
The Doc Utility app notifies you that the download is in progress. If you do not see this notification, read the Troubleshooting Doc Utility article.

In the background, a temporary copy of the file is downloaded to your computer. The file opens in your device's default program for that file type. This process can take a few moments, particularly if it's your first time using the Doc Utility app for the day.
Edit the File
Once the file is open, you can make the desired edits. When you're finished, make sure to save. The Doc Utility app notifies you that your changes are syncing back to Filevine.
Heads Up!
Do not use "Save as" or change the file's location on your device. Otherwise, your edits will not sync back to Filevine.
When the changes have synced, you can return to Filevine to preview the updated document. (You may need to refresh the page.) The updated document will also be added as a new version in the Versions tab of the document's properties.
