Beginning 3/5/2021, SMS numbers associated with projects will be automatically released after six months or more of inactivity. A project SMS number is considered active if it regularly sends or receives text messages.
At first release on 3/5/2021, any project number with five or more months of inactivity will receive a one-month warning message in the project’s vitals informing them of the date the number will be released. Going forward, you will see the note for the upcoming expiration date after five months of inactivity.
You will also be able to view the note for all inactive numbers in the Manage Org Phone Numbers Advanced tool.
Once an SMS number remains unused for six months straight, that SMS number will be released. After a number is released, the same number cannot be reassigned to a project.
If you’d like to continue using the number, simply refresh the number’s activity by texting to or from it to extend the number’s time period.
