If the transcript from a proceeding is needed by official authorities or for a trial, users can order a certified version of the transcript. These transcripts contain a certificate and are eligible to be used in court.
This article discusses the methods available to order a certified transcript, and how to access the transcript when it becomes available.
Tip
While you wait for the certified transcript, you can view the rough draft transcript. Rough drafts are compiled by AI, giving you immediate access to gather and share noteworthy moments from the proceeding.
Order Certified Transcripts
You can order a certified transcript during or after the proceeding. If you know for certain that a certified transcript will be required later, make sure to order during the proceeding so our team can get started right away.
During the Proceeding
Simply tell the reporter you'd like to order a certified transcript, and they will record your request.
After the Proceeding
In the Cases section, find and select the desired case, and then select the folder for the proceeding. In the Actions panel on the right, click Order certified transcript.
Choose your desired turnaround time, and then choose where to send the bill. Click Confirm order.
Alternatively, if you have the recording of a proceeding hosted outside of Depositions by Filevine, you can order a certified transcript of that proceeding while you upload the recording.
Processing Times
For hosted proceedings, you can choose one of the following turnaround times when ordering a certified transcript. To ensure accuracy, proceedings with poor audio quality may not be eligible for Expedited or Next Day delivery.
- Standard: 7-10 business days
- Expedited: 3-5 business days
- Next Day: 1 business day
For uploaded recordings, the standard turnaround time is 20 business days.
Access the Certified Transcript
Once you receive the certified transcript, select the case where the proceeding took place. The proceeding’s folder will display Certified transcript under the name of the proceeding. Open the folder to view the certified transcript.
Note
The certified transcript overrides and replaces the rough draft. Any annotations in the transcript toolkit automatically transfer to the certified version.
