Filevine alerts users when a file scans as infected. The scan and alert may not be instantaneous and may take some time to appear.
An alert icon and warnings will display wherever the file appears in Filevine. These alerts and warnings appear for newly uploaded or attached files, and will not appear for already-existing ones.
Antivirus warnings do not prevent the user from downloading or taking action on an infected file. Users can still perform all actions, but they will receive alerts and warnings when attempting to take actions.
Alerts
If Filevine identifies a file as infected, the file is marked with a triangle warning icon. This icon appears next to the file wherever it exists in Filevine—in the Docs section, but also in file attachment fields in custom sections, and attached in the Activity feed.
If you click open the file’s details flyout and click on the info icon tab, you’ll also see a warning that the file may contain harmful content.
Attempting to perform actions like downloading, emailing, moving, or copying the document will also show an extra warning.
Reports
The List of Docs report now includes a criteria called “Doc: Virus Detected,” which allows you to report on infected files.
Recommended Actions
If you see a file marked as infected, you should:
- Avoid taking any actions like downloaded, sharing, or copying the file
- Alert your company’s IT department about the file
