In this article, you’ll learn how to activate your account and sign in the Client Portal by Filevine, and how to use each of the three sections.
How to Your Activate Account
You will receive an email or a text message welcoming you to the portal. Click Activate Account to sign in.
Click Activate Account, you’ll receive a second email or text message with the confirmation code. Copy and paste the code in the Client Portal Invite code textbox. Click Confirm.
Once you’ve logged in, you can go to https://clientportal.filevineapp.com/login to login in the future.
Install the App
Once you’ve successfully logged into the client portal, you will be prompted to add the app to your home screen. You do not need to install the app to use the client portal. However, having the app makes notifications easier.
To install the app, click Add to Home Screen and follow the prompted steps.
Home
The Home section gives you an overview of your case. You’ll see your case name and a description of which step your case is in. New message appear beneath this information.
You may also see information about your team and business information like a phone number or address.
Messages
In the Messages section, you can read and respond to messages directly from your team.
When you first sign in, you will have one message thread welcoming you to the client portal. Click on this message thread to open it and read the full message. Click Reply to reply in this message thread. Type out your message, and click Send to reply.
Multiple message threads can help you organize your communication. To start a new message thread, click + New in the messages list. Fill out the thread Subject, which will be listed at the top of the message thread, and then type your message. Click Send to send the message.
Attachments
You and your legal team can both add attachments to messages to send documents back and forth. To add an attachment, open a message and click Attach at the bottom left.
Select the document from your device, and click Open to attach it. The successfully-attached document appears as a file icon in the message body.
Timeline
In the Timeline section, you can view the full list of steps your case will go through, with their descriptions.
Multiple Cases
If you are using the client portal for more than one case, you can activate the second case the same way that you’ve activated the first one, using the email or text that you received. Once you’ve signed in to the second case, you’ll be able to switch between cases by clicking your person icon in the top right and selecting Switch Project.
Then, you can choose which case you’d like to look at.
