In this article, you’ll learn how to activate your account and sign in to the Client Portal by Filevine, and how to use each section within the portal.
Activate Your Account
You will receive an email or a text message welcoming you to the portal. Click Activate Account to sign in.
Click Activate Account, you’ll receive a second email or text message with the confirmation code. Copy and paste the code in the Client Portal Invite code textbox. Click Confirm.
Once you’ve logged in, you can go to https://clientportal.filevineapp.com/ to access the portal in the future.
Save as a Bookmark
Once you’ve successfully logged into the client portal, you will be prompted to save the site to your home screen. Saving the bookmark will allow you to receive push notifications and provide you easier access to the client portal. This step is not required to use the client portal but is recommended for the best experience.
To bookmark, click Add to Home Screen and follow the prompted steps.
Language Support and Translation
The portal is automatically translated based on your browser’s language setting. Currently, the portal supports the following languages: Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, French, Hindi, Russian, Korean, Turkish, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Arabic. If your browser language is not supported, the portal remains in English as a default.
Regardless of your browser settings, portal messages always stay in the language they were originally written in.
Home
The Home section gives you an overview of your case. You’ll see your case name and a description of which step your case is in. If you have any new notifications, they will appear beneath this information.
You may also see information about your team and business information like a phone number or address.
Messages
In the Messages section, you can read and respond to messages directly from your team.
When you first sign in, you will have one message thread welcoming you to the client portal. Click on this message thread to open it and read the full message. Click Reply to reply in this message thread. Type out your message, and click Send to reply.
Multiple message threads can help you organize your communication. To start a new message thread, click + New in the messages list. Fill out the thread Subject, which will be listed at the top of the message thread, and then type your message. Click Send to send the message.
Attachments
You and your legal team can both add attachments to messages to send documents back and forth. To add an attachment, open a message and click Attach at the bottom left.
Select the document from your device, and click Open to attach it. The successfully-attached document appears as a file icon in the message body. All attached documents will also be added in the Documents section.
Tasks
In the Tasks section, view any tasks you have been assigned by your team. If no tasks are listed, you have not yet been assigned any tasks.
Documents
In the Documents section, view any documents that you have sent or received in the Client Portal, including documents attached to portal messages.
Documents are ordered and grouped by how recently they were sent. You can filter the list by “Sent” or “Received,” or search the list by document title.
Send Documents
You can send documents directly from this section. Click Send in the top right, and select the documents from your device. The selected documents will be added to a message. You can add a subject and message, or simply send the document attachments. When sent, the message appears in the Messages section with the other portal messages.
Billing
You may see a Billing section in the left side menu. Here you can view your total view and all invoices. Depending on how your section is set up, you may also be able to view your Project Funds, and pay invoices or add to project funds directly from the Client Portal.
Click on an invoice in the list to view the invoice PDF.
Invoice Payments
When you click on a due invoice, depending on your legal team's settings, you may see the options to Pay Invoice. Click Pay Invoice to make a payment of the full invoice amount using Payments by Filevine.
Project Funds
Depending on your legal team’s settings, you may also see a Project Funds section on the right. Payments made into and out of project funds are listed below the current available balance.
If given the option, you can choose to Add Funds and make a payment of any amount.
Timeline
In the Timeline section, you can view the full list of steps your case will go through, with their descriptions.
