Filevine users can open a folder navigation view in the Docs section of a project. This view allows users to see an overview of their folder structure, and to navigate, rename, and create folders more easily. Users can also upload documents directly to a folder.

Folder Navigation View
To open the folder navigation view, click the folder icon in the top left corner of a project’s Docs section. Filevine will remember the folder navigation view across projects: if the view is opened in one project, it will automatically be open in other projects as well.
When the folder navigation view is open, the lefthand side menu collapses. Hover over the icons to expand the menu, or click on the folder icon again to close the folder navigation view.
Expand the folder navigation view by clicking and dragging the edge.
Note: If a folder is empty, it appears with an outlined, unfilled icon. If a folder contains any files or any folders, the folder is considered non-empty, and it appears with a filled icon.
Navigate and Rename
The folder navigation view shows the folder structure for the project. Click on the caret next to a folder to show its subfolders, and click again to collapse them.
Click on a folder to navigate to that folder. Click again to open a dropdown with options for renaming the folder or adding a subfolder.
Move and Copy
To move or copy documents from one folder to another within a project, make sure that the navigation view is open, and then select the documents and drag them from their current position into the chosen folder in the folder tree.
In the modal, choose either Copy or Move. To skip the modal step, press Shift while dragging the documents to move them, or press Ctrl (Cmd for Macs) while dragging the documents to copy them.
Upload to a Folder
Upload documents directly to a folder by dragging the documents from your computer files to any folder in the folder navigation view. While the document or documents are loading, a progress bar appears below the folder to show the progress of the uploading documents. The documents themselves also display progress bars for their individual progress.
The upload continues if you navigate into a different project, and will only be canceled if you navigate out of Filevine or close the browser. When the upload is finished, you will receive a Folders Updated notification in the bottom left of the screen.
Upload to Your Current Folder
To upload a document to the folder you are currently in, drag a document from your computer files to the document list. While the document or documents are loading, a progress bar appears below the document to show the progress of the uploading documents.
The upload continues if you navigate into a different project, and will only be canceled if you navigate out of Filevine or close the browser.
