Individual text numbers can be generated for each project in Filevine. This will help you stay in contact with your clients without having to give out your personal phone number.
In order to generate this number, you must have Project Admin access.
How to Generate a Text Number
First, go to the client’s project. Scroll over the Vitals in the upper right-hand corner (pictured below) and select More Vitals. Click Turn on Texting. When you select Turn on Texting, a box will appear requesting an area code.
Type in the area code that you wish this number to reflect. Every number is personalized for each project. Once as area code has been included, click “Start SMS." If an error appears at this point, the area code you requested has had its available numbers exhausted. Please try a different area code, or wait a few minutes up to 24 hrs to try again with the same area code.
Once the number has been generated, it will be reflected in the project's Vitals.
You can then give this number to your clients or other people involved in the case so they can text directly into the project’s activity feed.
If for any reason you need to change the texting number for a project, you can drop the current number and generate a new one by following these steps.
Go to the Vitals section and select More Vitals. In the Vitals window click on the existing texting number. This will bring up a new window that will ask you to type DELETE to confirm that you want to drop the texting number. You will not be able to use that same number again for that specific project.
