Once you add or link a project to Depo CoPilot, you can add a deposition with goals, and then begin recording.
Add a New Deposition
On the main projects page, select a project. Click New Deposition in the top right corner. In the deposition’s page, click on the title (by default, “New Deposition”) to change the deposition’s name.
Add Goals
Add up to 15 goals for this deposition. Depo CoPilot will analyze whether these goals have been accomplished throughout the deposition, using references to the transcript that you can review.
Goals cannot be added or edited after the recording is started, so make sure that you add and finalize all your goals beforehand. Choose from the list of suggested goals, or click + Add a goal. Enter or change the subject and goal text.
Attach Documents
If this deposition’s project is linked with Filevine, you can attach relevant documents from the Filevine project to your goal. Depo CoPilot can then cross-reference witness testimony against your project documents in real time.
Click + Attach documents, and choose one of the following options:
- Attach documents from your linked Filevine project. Select the “Search documents” field, and make sure Include Filevine project docs is selected. Search for and select the desired document(s). Filevine project documents have a Filevine logo.
- Upload documents from your computer. Click Upload, and upload your desired document(s) directly from your device. Keep in mind that any documents uploaded directly into Depo CoPilot do not sync back into Filevine.
Note: The documents from your Filevine project do not sync in real time. If they are updated in Filevine after you initially linked your project, those updates do not reflect in Depo CoPilot.
Click Save and add additional goals.
Begin Recording
Once you create your goals and attach relevant documents, you are ready to begin recording. You can record either using your own microphone or by having Depo CoPilot join the meeting.
To record with your microphone, click Record With Mic. The recording will begin immediately, using your device’s microphone. Click Pause to stop the recording. Click the square icon to end the recording, and the circle icon to play. You can also click Source to change the source to a meeting link.
To record from a meeting, click Record From Meeting. Enter the link from your meeting. When you join the meeting, you will see “Filevine DepoCopilot” added as a user. Nearly any meeting link will work here—simply include the entire link you would normally click on to join a meeting. If a password is required, include it in the link.
To change recording settings, first pause the recording. Click Settings to view and update the meeting link. Click Source to switch to recording with your mic.
You can pause the recording and resume at any time. However, once you’ve clicked End Recording, you will no longer be able to record for that deposition.
Alternatively, if the deposition already happened, you can click Upload a File and upload the recording. Depo CoPilot will listen, transcribe, and then share any relevant insights from the recording. Supported file types include: .wav, .mp3, and .mp4.

Manage Depositions
On the main projects page, select a project to see the depositions it contains. You can review each deposition's status (not started, paused, or ended), name, and duration of the recording so far.
You can search depositions by their names using the search box at the top right.
You can also rename or delete a deposition from this list. Click on the vertical ellipsis for that deposition to view these options.
Note: Once a deposition has been deleted, it cannot be recovered. Exercise caution when deleting depositions.
To move a deposition from one project to another, find and select the desired deposition. In the lefthand side menu, select the “Project” field, then search for and select the desired project.
To confirm the deposition moved successfully, click Back to Project, then click Back to Projects. Select the project where you moved the deposition, and make sure the deposition is listed there.
